YOU’RE THE REAL BOSS

While the CEO is steering the ship, as a Plant Manager, you’re the one who’s keeping it moving!

Every day, workers look to you to coordinate all the operations within the manufacturing plant. You’re mostly working with a team of schedulers and planners under you, so the brunt of the workload doesn’t fall entirely on your shoulders, but it is your job to make sure that all of those tasks are happening smoothly, and that both departments are communicating openly with one another. Once all the right procedures are in place, many of these functions will go on without much difficulty, but when plans change suddenly – like when a rush job comes into the plant – you have to take the reigns and keep productivity at a maximum. Day to day you will work with schedulers and planners to review operational activities and make sure all jobs are being completed on schedule. You’ll also ensure that all materials have been ordered for upcoming jobs, will analyze performance results to see where improvements can be made to the production process, and will complete any paperwork required to report to upper management.
