YOU’RE A REAL CRAFTSMAN

You love to work with your hands and take pride in the physical things you make every day.

You’re a Machinist, and you’re the expert hands that get the jobs done that can’t be done by an automated machine – when what is required is a human touch. You use all sorts of tools and machinery – lathes, grinders, milling machines, bores, and drilling and cutting tools – and you wield each and every one with precision. You also understand the different tolerances of various materials, so you know how to handle it when it is in the machine. Day to day, you’re fabricating precise parts – not mass produced parts, but special, one of a kind parts – or sometimes modifying / repairing parts that need a little love and attention. You’re making sure the machines are set up correctly, and are also carefully measuring the parts you’re making to ensure all the dimensions meet the right specifications.
